Kyiv Day in Brussels
On May 30, the capital of Belgium hosted “Kyiv Day in Brussels” for the first time. Guests were treated to poetry readings, music, and an art fair.
The event took place thanks to the efforts of the Association of Ukrainian Women in Belgium with the support of the Association of Ukrainians in Belgium (TUB).
The literary program of the festival featured authors: Taisiia Nakonechna, Daria Lysenko, and Nica Nicaleo.
Unique auction: lots from Vitali Klitschko and Svyatoslav Vakarchuk
A charity auction took place during the evening, all proceeds from which were directed toward the restoration of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, which suffered from Russian attacks. Thanks to the coordinated work of volunteers, the organizers managed to obtain exclusive lots from the capital of Ukraine – boxing gloves with the personal autograph of Vitali Klitschko and an autographed song lyric sheet from the frontman of the band “Океан Ельзи”, Svyatoslav Vakarchuk.
A symbol of resilience
On the eve of the event, a touching video went viral on the internet, in which People’s Artist of Ukraine and soloist of the Veryovka Choir, Tetiana Pyrogova, stands in the middle of Kyiv’s Lukianivka district, devastated by Russian shelling, and sings the capital’s anthem, “How Not to Love You, My Kyiv.”
“Kyiv has experienced and is experiencing so much pain recently… But there is also so much love around this city. This love must sprout. Kyiv will definitely stand firm and become one of the key centers of the renewed world”, shares Taisiia Nakonechna.
